Palworld Version 1.0.4 Patch Notes
Palworld version 1.0.4 (console build 1.102.642) shipped September 7, 2026 — the first post-launch update to add brand-new missions rather than only tuning numbers. It follows the July 10, 2026 full 1.0 launch and the August 12 balance patch 1.0.3.
New Sub-Missions
- Beyond Dimensions — Accept from the NPC at Fisherman's Point in Mount Obsidian, the volcanic region in the northwest of the Palpagos Islands. Bring Heat-Resistant armor and ideally an Ice-type Pal for the local Alphas.
- From the Far Side of the Moon — Unlocks after clearing Beyond Dimensions. Both missions offer clean player XP — among the best per-mission rewards since 1.0's main quest rework.
Base Pal AI Improvements
- Summoned Pals and Base Pals now prioritize skills expected to deal higher damage — they lead with heavy hitters instead of spamming weak filler moves.
- Charging-type skill behavior fixed — the awkward wind-up loops that sometimes left a Pal stuck mid-cast are addressed.
- Lazure swimming speed adjusted and homing-enhancement value from Lunaris Effigies tweaked.
- Mission target Pals and NPCs no longer fall asleep — fixes a class of stuck quests.
- Ancient Bark gathering now requires Work Suitability Lv. 1 — almost any Gathering Pal can collect it, removing a mid-game bottleneck.
Battle Changes
- Power Bomb minimum-use distance adjusted to reduce unnatural backstep spam before use.
- Backstep behavior for summoned Pals adjusted for certain skills.
- Core Eject Shotgun damage adjusted — re-check its damage output before boss runs.
Fishing Rework
- Fishing difficulty rebalanced at spots in Sunreach and the World Tree area.
- Bait rewards adjusted — item rewards now scale by bait type.
- New control guides, warnings, and recommended-equipment displays appear while fishing.
- New "Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames" option added to World Settings.
Items, Shops, and QoL
- Echoing Flute can now be dropped from inventory — relief for anyone who had the crafted flute stuck after the Panthalus questline.
- Pal Critic requirements changed: Sakurajima now wants Dogen instead of Selyne; Sunreach now wants Faleris Aqua instead of Bastigor.
- Material return on work cancel — canceling work at a production facility now returns materials to your inventory instead of dropping them (unless over weight limit with auto-pickup off).
- New anti-grief zones: building restrictions on servers now protect the desert Field Boss Suzaku, desert Main Mission cave, and Sakurajima mission locations.
- Campfires no longer set you or your Pals on fire on contact.
- Admins get a new per-player building-count limit server setting.
- Default 120 FPS cap on PC.
- Version-mismatch errors in co-op now show the target's version.
Bug Fixes That Matter
- Radiant Gems from wild World Tree Pals no longer drop mismatched or overly-biased elements — the community's loudest complaint about Awakening farming is fixed.
- Lucky passive defense bonus now activates correctly.
- Idiosyncratic mutation passive now works properly.
- Mercy Hit applies correctly while riding.
- Grintale's mutated-egg boost now reflects mutated stat values.
- World Tree Guardian now appears correctly even if you beat Panthalus before progressing the Main Mission — the soft-lock is fixed.
- World Tree boss warning indicators that could fail to appear are fixed.
- Co-op fixes: joining players not landing in host's guild, host mission progressing when client entered mission area.
- Crash fixes around fishing-spot animations, sorting Pals on a server, long mission descriptions, and title-screen connection errors.
- Ancient Material Synthesizer work-speed multiplier now applies after reload.
- Worker-Pal assignments now reflect correctly at base facilities.
Performance Improvements
- Reduced rendering load in the World Tree area.
- Less stuttering when passive skills activate.
- Terrain and water display adjusted in Sunreach and the World Tree.
- Updraft positions tweaked — relevant for Wing Pack gliding.
- Console memory usage reduced on Xbox One and during PS5 co-op.
What 1.0.4 Does Not Include
1.0.4 does not raise the level cap (still 80), add new Pals (still 287), add new tower bosses (still 9), or touch capture-bonus (5 catches) or condensing (48 Pals) costs. It is also not related to Palworld Online — the separate Garena-licensed mobile MMO announced August 3, 2026.
Should You Update?
Yes — especially for the new missions (free XP), the Radiant Gem fix (faster Awakening), the Base Pal AI improvements, and the 100+ bug fixes. Update clients and dedicated servers together. If your game shows version mismatch in co-op, the new error message now tells you the target version.
