Jetragon is Palworld’s signature volcanic Dragon flyer. Patch 1.0.3 did not move its spawn — it moved the technology gate so you can craft ride Pal Gear at level 70 instead of 79, with cheaper materials. This page covers the Mount Obsidian hunt, capture prep, and what to build once it is in the box.
Mount Obsidian approach
Fly or glide to the southeastern volcanic plateau. The Eternal Pyre Tower marks the neighborhood; Jetragon patrols the ash ridgeline northeast of that approach. Bring heat resistance (armor or Pal passives), a ranged weapon, and a backup flyer if the Wing Pack runs out of Wing Cells.

Capture checklist
- Statue of Power / Pal Effigy Capture Bonus stacked (see Pal Effigy)
- Legendary or Ultimate Spheres — do not cheap out on a flying Legendary
- Weaken with sleep or heavy burst, then throw from cover so lava and fire breath do not cancel the sphere
- If you fail, the Legendary timer is hours, not minutes — plan a second trip
Pal Gear after 1.0.3
Open Technology after the patch and look in the 70 band, not the old 79 endgame row. Pocketpair also reduced the materials for Jetragon’s ride gear and cut Missile Launcher AI Cores 24 → 12. That is the whole point of this patch for Jetragon mains: you no longer sit at level 78 staring at a saddle you cannot unlock.

Using Jetragon in 1.0

Where does Jetragon spawn?
On the Mount Obsidian volcanic plateau in the southeast Palpagos map — circling the ash ridgeline northeast of the Eternal Pyre Tower approach, typically level 50+. Heat-resistant armor and a flyer or Wing Pack are required to reach the plateau safely.
When can I unlock Jetragon’s saddle after 1.0.3?
Patch 1.0.3 (Aug 11–12, 2026) moved some Jetragon-related technologies from level 79 to 70 and cut Pal Gear material costs. Missile Launcher AI Cores also dropped from 24 to 12. Recheck the Technology tree after updating.
Do I need to beat World Tree first?
No. Jetragon is an open-world Legendary on Mount Obsidian, not a World Tree exclusive. You still want strong Capture Power, Legendary Spheres, and a damage team — the fight is a flying dragon, not a tutorial spawn.
Can I breed Jetragon?
Yes once captured. Breed onto a second copy for passives and mutations rather than farming the long Legendary respawn if you already have one in the Palbox.
Is Jetragon still the fastest flyer?
Jetragon remains the headline Dragon flyer for map traversal (community figures cluster around 3,300 sprint with high stamina). After 1.0.3 you can saddle it nine levels earlier, so it competes with late Wing Pack routes sooner.
What if Jetragon is missing?
Wait the multi-hour Legendary respawn, confirm you are on the ash ridge not a neighboring volcano, and check that another player on a dedicated server did not already capture it this cycle.
